Good to hear from ya, Sam...Gonna put her in the water by week's end. Blowing pretty hard here with the cold front (insert laughter here from the northerners). Just gonna scoot around the canal & maybe throw a lure or 2. How's things going with the girls' boat? Ouchita?? In addition...might....just might be heading up that way next month. If I get anywhere close, I'm knockin' on yer door!

Dang Leeeesa...them are sum my-tee fine lookin MAAAheee-MAAAAheeess...MMMMMM, yummy!:hungry:

Bet they hurt the thumb to land them, but after feasting on them, it hopefully hurt a bit less...:friendly_wink:
Best of luck on getting the "right" help for it...

Oh Yeah! That, there is sure one fresh looking, two-toned with the black RR, floaty thingy...also, yes ma'am!

I could see puttin a nice red or black waterline stripe...maybe? :noidea: ... Looks sweet just the way it is...

Really like the texture on the close up of the bow...

Pardon my forgetfulness, but I have two questions about that texture...

1- Is that the texture you get from...?...[ application methods ]

...and...

2- Did it turn out to be the general texture throughout?

Hope the weather is perfect for a sea trial...:thumb:

L8R...

PS- Have you been having these clear, blue, forever skies, lately? :cool-new:

Hey Gus!! Been missin' you...I'm afraid to even whisper about how nice our weather has been. Picture perfect last wk...calm winds, blue, cloudless skies...sweet! I went out last Wednesday...worked til noon, out by 1 or so. Fish in the boat by 4...double header. Had a couple of the offspring with me, so had a little help. Reeling the tld 20 in was not bad on the thumb...it is fine as long as I don't attempt to bend it. It's amazing what you learn to do without bending your opposable digit. Once I got them to the swivel, I just did a couple of wraps with the left hand and hollered at my daughter to open the cooler and in she went. Back to the other pole & was able to do it twice without a hitch. Real trouble came later at home when I was cleaning them...I usually pull the skin off, then fillet. Try pulling the slimey skin off when you're unable to pincher grasp with your thumb. There were some choice words spewing that night. So gosh darn mad at this whole thing!! Over it!! As far as the floaty thing...our great minds are in sync...I have the black stripe on the counter...just haven't put it on yet. The texture you see is throughout and due to application. As you may remember, I rolled all gelcoat, which left a slight ripple of orange peel. One of the wise old geezers around here once told me he didn't think the fish would scream or refuse entry based solely on this, so I was ok with the texture. Shiny is overrated....yeah, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Good to see you back at it on the Bassassin. This is the time of year we like to work without losing 5 times our body weight sweating(although I think that wouldn't be so bad in my case). Windy the last couple of days, but I might splash her in the kee-nal tomorrow.

....hey, I was just thinkin'...if I could get a donation from Mr. Clampett...hmmm.....one to hold the fish down and the other to pull the skin...nah...he'll never part with any of his clamps!

I will need to get a battery for this boat...only need to power navigation lights & a bilge pump, since I use "manual" labor to start the engine...what are you guy's thoughts for minimum requirement? Do I need the deep cell? Any thoughts? I splashed her, or attempted to yesterday. Engine ran like poop...put it back on the trailer, came home(luckily I live 3 houses from the ramp)...took off the carb, cleaned up (again). Fuel hose from fuel fitting to filter was cracked. Replaced & back together, back in the water in an hour. Ran good. Might go freshwater fishin' early a.m. to really see if I can break the cherry!! Beautiful weather here right now.

yeah...not my favorite, but I have been known to throw my spinner bait where the big boys are lurking! Plus I am not quite ready for saltwater splash. Need to get the feel of the boat and make sure the engine keeps purring. Weather pretty nice, so maybe go out in the morning and fart around just to say I did. Any idea on the battery, Sam?

Morning and best of luck getting the kinks worked out...I'll be looking forward to pics of the huge lunker you land...
BTW, my nickle-95 on the battery...
Since you have manual start, the recommendation would be for a deep cycle...
Crank/start battery provides a lot of amperage for a short period of time, then needs recharging from the running engine...they are not happy getting discharged too deeply...
Deep cycle batts provide smaller amounts of amperage for a looooong time, are fine with being deeply discharged, then recharged.
Here is a you tube link that has several 'splanashuns...

Thanks Gus...check your pm...I sent you a message a couple of days ago. All votes so far for deep cycle...and so it will be. Had a good day here, until it was almost over. Son & I rebuilt trailer on his little 14' Polar Craft trailer...bunks 'n' hardware 'n' stuff. All went well. We started shuffling boats around...put mine in the canal..he put his in...did a little fishing. Nothing for me, but he got a couple bass on his boat. We were coming home from boatramp & golf cart, for the 3rd time in 4 months, heated up the vglide controller & melted it. So had to take mine back to house, lucky only a few houses away from ramp, come back with truck & get other boat. So we were using that dollie that you get from HF that has a hitch/ball on it, to get the 2 boats manually back into the backyard. He had the tongue of my boat resting on it and I noticed one of the safety chains was under the wheel of the dollie. I bent over & moved the wheel about 2" & the weight of the bow flipped that dollie up & hit me square in the side of head/behind left ear. I went down like Mike Tyson KO'd me. Cut the cartilage on my ear, behind my ear black/blue, swollen...(I'm laying on a pkg of frozen peas now)....I got up & we finished putting the boats away, blood running down my neck. We went in the garage looking at the golf cart part & I was having difficulty with vision. Think I have concussion. After ice, vision got better, but headache now. Afraid to go to sleep. Never again am I gonna say what a good day we had and how everything went smoothly until I'm out of the shower & in bed. Hope tomorrow's better. Desperately need to figure out this golf cart issue.

Honestly!!! I'm not catching a break lately. At least the boat worked. I'll be much happier when I wake up for work tomorrow. As you know from pics, which I have some from today's outing as proof we were out there, I have short, short hair, so it's obvious I have one ear 2 sizes too big...kinda like Sam's heart...hey, if I lose my sense of humor, you should start to worrying!!

The Larivee looks great trolling the canal . You gunna put a Bimini top on it for some shade ?

Thanks Sam...I think so too. Not sure about the shade...gotta get those seats first..always a work in progress. I'm glad you noticed "trolling". When I was growing up, on this very canal, we always trolled lures. Used to catch all kinds of good stuff. Nobody trolls here! They all look at me funny when they see me doing it. That's about the time I pull a lunker out of the well and they all of sudden want to ask me about my style.
