another way to look at it...

fwd= prop locks ccw, ratchets cw
neu.= prop free wheels both directions, no sound, no feel.
rev.= prop locks cw, ratchets ccw.

agree, turn the shift shaft in the lower cw while turning the prop shaft ccw to lock into fwd...

any motion of the prop cw once in fwd. will result in the drive no longer being in fwd... load the prop ccw with a bungee to keep it in place..

look at this thread.. read that to help understand the undercut gears + why it ratchets one way and locks the other...
