I have a 1988 Johnson 140 the VRO is disconnected. I only use 93 octane in it. Last trip out I would be running at 3rpms and it would sort of bog out or power down a little bit. I could throttle it back up but it would gradually bog out. When I put it back on the trailer I couldnt drive it up the trailer. I usually leave the trailer bunks 1/3 of the way out of the water and power load on to the trailer with no probs. This time the thing would not lift itself onto the trailer. Also when I was lining up to drive onto the trailer I notices I had no idle. I think I may have mixed too much oil in the gas? You guys wanna toss me some ideas. Brand new plugs, maybe I should get the carbs cleaned and make sure all the coils are sending spark?

Compression, spark and fuel. If the carb's have not been serviced in a while it would be a good idea to do that. Check compression and spark first though as that will show up if there is something more serious going on.

Yep, start with the basics. And get rid of the 93, use 87 octane only and Champion plugs.
