15 hp alternator

Just bought a 1999 15 hp Evinrude four stroke for a kicker. Now the dumb question, how do I tell if it has an alternator, not sure what it looks like. The motor does not have electric start. If it doesn't have an alternator, is there an aftermarket available for this motor, would like to charge the battery for the electric downriggers.

Thanks

There is a battery charging kit. It includes a different stator coil assembly, a rectifier, miscellaneous bits and pieces and the battery cable .

It is part number 0176448 and it costs 215 USD but availability is limited

Or you can pick up a 15 watt solar charger for about a $100. It'll put out just over an 1 amp, which isn't much, but enough to keep a trickle charge going. I had one on my last boat and it seemed to work fine. Never had a dead battery.

Thanks, 215.00 doesn't sound too bad, solar charger sounds like a good idea too, but don't know if it would keep up with two electric downriggers.

Vic S.,
Do you know if charging kit part # 0176448 is correct for evinrude model # E15RL4EEB. The only place I've been able to locate one can't tell me for sure if it's the correct charging kit. Can't return if it's not correct. Thanks

I am not up on the alternator output of the 4 strokes, but I can tell you that the pre 93 2 stroke 9.9/15hp will not keep up with extended usage (4 days) even of GPS/sonar.
