I just bought an 1996 astro bass boat with a 1996 150 mariner. Took it out and it ran great. I got back to the dock and turned the motor off and when I went to crank it to put the boat on the trailer it wouldnt crank and the warning horn sounded an intermittent beep ( beep beep beep....). I check the oil reserviors ( both of them) and they were full. When I got the boat home I hooked the ears up to it and went to crank the boat and it fired right up. I thought it was a sensor problem and the next time I took it out it ran fine. I took it out a third time and it wouldnt crank again and the beep horn came on again. I put the boat up and will not run it until I figure out whats going on. My tachometer was acting funny and someone told me the stator was going bad. Does anyone know what the problem could possibly be. Can the stator cause the warning horn to sound off like that and prevent the boat from cranking. I suspect oil problem and am going to troubleshoot the systems this afternoon.

the stator could cause is not to crank but i dont think you would get the warning buzzer because of the stator, usually the warning buzzers are for the oil injection resorvior level and for overheating either one will get you a buzzer, dont really know what else would cause the buzzer, not real fond of all this new crap they got nowa days

Got it, the kill switch lanyard was in place but the switch was halfway down. I flipped The switch and the boat cranked right up! NO BEEP! REMEMBER TO CHECK THE KILL SWITCH FIRST! HAHA!
