150 Merc XR6 idling in gear

Would there be any problems (or cause any problems) just idling in gear with a xr6? I have done this for a mile or so with no ill effects-but have only done this once-after which I ran it out wot with no issues-no hesitation or anything. Just wondering if doing this could damage the motor--it did use a ton of gas though
I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance.

If the oil injection has been bypassed and running premix it might load up a bit or foul a plug but you wont hurt it "trolling".

Thanks. I do run premix--pop didn't trust the oil injection and had it taken off. I suppose I'll know when a plug is fouled? I should keep some spares on the boat.
