Recently had the engine off the boat and put back on. On the first trip out the oil alarm came on, I tranfered oil using the manaul over ride switch (so I know the pump works and the filter is not cloged). So were do I go from here?
Is it the sensor or the black box the tells the pump to pump when the oil resevior is down a little. I have checked the wires they look OK. I don't know alot about how the senor works, I can get a reading for the alarm, by manually sliding the float down. I feel I should be able to get a reading off the white wire when the float is just down a bit. Any suggestions out there?

Great article with lots of trouble shooting info. Pay special attention to the wiring since the motor was removed right before the problem began.

Thanks for all the direction, The problem was a corroided wire from the large oil tank on the boat, the was caused by a nic in the insulation in the manufactured molded rubber which after twenty plus years and some jiggling durring un and re - install broke the conductor. Under normal circumstances, Not only does this send a low oil signal but disables the automatic transfer of the last 1 1/2 quarts of oil in the reservior, which you can pump to the engine using the emergecy overrride switch. A new sensor is back ordered from Japan, I temporly by-paased that sensor. Thanks again to everyones input.
