I have a 2001 150 VMAX on Triton SF 18. Recently noticed oil in bilge water when I drained. Assumed I spilled some oil when adding to reservoir(I fill to orange line). Hosed out bilge to clear water. Ran on hose for few minutes, ran water through bilge-clear. Next time out,ran for about an hour. When I drained bilge-oil in water. Looked at reservoir and did not appear to have used too much oil. Checked hoses and wraps around reservoir and didn't see any oil. Therefore, assumed no leak. Drove home. When I looked at reservoir, couple of teaspoons of oil around base of filler cap. Had not seen any around cap when I took out of water. Cap on tight. Could the cap be leaking when hitting chop on water or bumps in road? I couldn't find any crack in top. Ideas?

Is the reservoir tank you are referring a remote oil tank located somewhere in the boat that feeds oil via a line of some type to the main oil tank located on the engine. Also did you check the gasket on the cap. I assume the cap allows for venting of air, if so could that be your culprit?

Yes, it is a remote tank. I'll check the gasket this weekend. I appreciate your response and suggestion.
