My problem is exactly like many posts but I have found no answers.Local service has had it for 4 weeks and cant find the problem, only sugestions.
So I am asking you geniuses to help.
Lost hole shot power. 2000 rpm when on the trailer at full throttle. 3000 rpm out on the water at full throttle. When I first put the boat in the water it would take off as normal and run out at 5400 to 5600 rpm. after warming up I cant get it back up on plane. Mechanic says that stator and trigger are fine. (???????) Compression and fuel are not a problem. Possibly a switchbox. I picked the boat up from the mechanic today and took it to the water to try it out. Ran great at first and then gould not get out of the water after it was warmed up. and finaly at long last it quit and would not start. I have ordered two new power packs from iboats and will put them on as soon as they get here. I had this similar problem with a 1985 50 hp and it was the trigger assembly. I have been told by the mechanic that the trigger assmbly on this 1987 xr2 150 hp is fixed. Can anyone tell me for sure if this is correct? I have read the posts in the forum and find conflicting statements concerning the trigger assembly. My mechanic said that when he had the flywheel off that the stator appears to have been replaced and after consulting directly with Mercury that it was the correct stator. I just cant believe that I cant Pay to have my motor fixed. Dealer wanted 235.00 each for the switchboxes, I ordered them from Iboats for 133.00 each. I hope these are OK.,
After reading of similar problems with the 150 XR2 ,, I have not been able to find an answer to the problem even though it seems to be coman.
Which one of you ha the answer?
I will be sure to post my solution when I find it.
Thanks a bunch and ask me anything I'm leaving out as I am sure I have forgotten many.
