$$$ value is determined by a potential buyer, not the seller.

I've seen people pay a lot more for something of a lot less value.

I wouldn't let my 1966 folding Lightwin go for twice that price.;)

people think because they are old they are worth a lot. they fail to realize they made hundreds of them.

i'm not an outboard collector (more of an accumulator) but i know in camera the the seriel # can sometimes drastically change the value. for you collectors out there is there anything special about this one?

Well crap!

I got busy and missed the end of the auction!

Hopefully he relists it so I have another crack at it.

Some people really just don't have a clue, I think that is pricey at half what he is aking.

At that price he needs to be more specific on the Hiawatha...is it a motor or boat anchor? Pricey either way.

If you look at the guy's feedback, he has been selling mostly movie memorabilia. My guess is that he knows little or nothing about outboard motors. He has an old ERude that is in very good condition, so he thinks that makes it worth lots of money.

As for the claim that he makes about having been offered $1,500 for the motor, who knows - maybe some fool did offer that to him. My response would be, "if someone offered you you that much money, you'd better RUN to go get it!"
