150HP to 4.5HP coil interchangability?

Is "Interchangability" even a word? Anyways.... I have a 1982 4.5hp that is losing spark on one cylinder. I also have a whole box full of coils for bigger Johnson and Evinrude motors that appear almost identical. The only physical difference is the 4.5hp coil has 2 wires coming out of it. One goes to a ground and the other to a harness. The 150hp coil has a metal band that is bolted to the mounting location that would ground it and it also has a post that I was thinking I could splice the wire to that is coming from the original harness. Will this work or should I continue troubleshooting and buy the correct coil?

Later year external coils have the strap.. Should swap fine.
