I'm trying to find something between the performance of my 17pitch 3 blade and my 19pitch 3 blade. Running a '98 Volvo-Penta 5.7 GSi (280 hp) in a 23' Reinell OB. Is a 19pitch 4 blade the answer? T.R.

try it and go from there. Are they stainless steel or aluminum? if stainless, The 4 blade will give you different handling characteristics and will give you a better hole shot while the 3 blade will probably be a little faster on top end.

Which end of performance are you looking at? Do you want better hole-shot than the 19, but better speed than the 17?
A 4-bld 19 will be like a 20P 3-bld.....not in-between what you now have.
An 18P 4-bld will give "decent" hole-shot, and "might" be faster if the prop you choose is of a high quality, and that's going to take an SS to do that.

Can anyone else change its direction just by looking from one blade to another.I can change it at will.
I'll have to be careful not to wear out the clutch dog.

I agree with walleyehed - we need to know what you are trying to accomplish...

I currently run only Aluminum props. lots of beaching the boat for the kids to play and shallow lakes. I am consatntly carrying 6-8 adults and 3-5 kids, and am pulling something (tube(s), wakeborders, etc) Wouldn't have it any other way !! My 19P doesn't have the holeshot and my 17P has me turning 3800-4000 rpms for a slalom skier at 30mph. For the heck of it I cranked the boat up w/ th 17P and couldn't reach WOT (46-4800 rpm). So I was thinking something in between the 2 props I now own. Sounds like an 18P 4 blade may be the best bet eh?

If you can't reach recommended WOT with the 17P, you sure don't want an 18P 4-bld that will pull about the same as a 19P 3-bld, only slower.
What exactly IS your WOT with a normal load with the 17?

Normal load (15-1800lbs) WOT trimmed the best I can get it is about 4200 RPM. I'm running that at 6000 ft elevation. recommended is 46-4800 by Volvo-Penta. Thanks for the corrispondance

That is a very important factor that was left out...at 6000ft elevation, you have lost 18% of your rated HP.
15P is going to be better suited to your set-up than anything else....too much HP loss at that elevation...you're putting out less than 230HP at that.
