Hey guys This thing is driving me crazy hope some one here can help on this one . I have narrowed it down to a vac leak in my stbd. side manifold gasket that giving me the bad idle I think . I found out by putting a toothpick in the air jet and she smooth out for me . when I take the tooth pick out it idle rough again . I figure it not the carbs because I swap it with a other carb on the port side and I still need the pick on the stbd bottom carb side , I also did a check on the recir system as per the service manual I just received , it tells you to pull off the hose from the cyl side of the recir hose and put in in a cup of water and if it bubbles it ok .Well both of the top cyl did not bubble but the other 4 cyl did . I notice that one side had a black manifold gasket on the stbd. side that I need the tooth pick to run . The port side had a tan gasket that look much thicker then the black one on the stbd side . It also looks like the manifold is a little buckle near the edge in places on the stbd side ( plastic crap ) . Any rebuilders here that can give me any advise what to look for when I take off the manifolds . And if I have a air leak why would it only effect the 2 top cyl recir hoses and bottom port carb ? Thanks for all your help on this one ! JJb

if they ran two diiferent gasket thicknises they may have had probs sealing that side also might want to make sure that side is not warped

Re: 175 Johnson needs help !

Her is what I found ! I was trying to check my check valves on my 2000 175 Johnson model J175 Vxsss . When I removed the manifolds and throttle body to test them I notice there were no check valves or screens in the manifold itself as describe in manual . In the manual it shows to check on the block side and the manifold back side. I then went looking at the part Numbers on the them and found that they did not match the Johnson part Number for that year or any year I could fine on Johnson site . the Numbers I found on the parts were 335194 for the port intake manifold , 335193 for the stbd intake manifold . for the throttle body , port 341267 . and 3412667 for stbd . The right numbers from parts site are Intake manifold #0433241 port , and 0437290 stbd. Does anyone know what year did these part came from and what engine ? and where should the check valves and screens go on the intake manifold ? Thanks
