Sounds like the upper gearcase is probably fubar'd! They probably ran it w/o oil or full of water. Be interesting to see when you tear it apart.

Yea I think first step is going to be finding a manual. I can't seem to figure out how this thing draws in water to cool it.

Getcha' a manual though ... you're right. You're gonna' need it.
