175 yamaha vmax only getting 5200 rpm

i have a 2009 ranger 188vx with a 175 yamaha vmax. when trimming all the way up, lose power. can trim down and speed up. motor runs best at approximately 5000 rpm even though rated for 6000 rmp. don't know what to do to get motor to run correctly.

What prop are you using and does the boat have a jack plate? also what kind of speed are you getting?

where did you get the 6000 RPM reference ?
post the engines full model number.
