thanks for all your help one of the black kill wires was pinched between the carburetor fuel line clamp and the battery cable there is none of the wire showing through the insulation but when i pulled it loose and just let them hang over the side of the cowling i get spark i think i am going to replace them again and be a little more careful of routing them better thanks again

Glad you found the problem......
A side note---I much prefer the universal magneto because parts are much cheaper than the CDI unit, and if set correctly, lasts a heckuva long time. I don't have to regap my points all the time like some folks seem to think. I go for a LONG time with mine without touching the points. Of course, I only put 6 or 8 hours a year on mine, or about 30 gallons of gas. Also, with the universal magneto you have two separate ignitions, which allows you to get back on one cylinder if a coil fails. If the cdi unit fails, you're paddling home-----and I hate to paddle!:D
I've got one or two 18hp OMC's and think they are pretty sweet motors.
Good luck with yours,
JBJ
