Hi,

I am looking at buying a ProKicker for my 1875 Lund Impact.
I will be using it on Ohio inland lakes as well as Lake Erie.
Should I buy the long shaft ( 20" ) of the extra long shaft ( 25" ) ?

Thanks, Tom

Measure your hull height where you're going to mount it. I run a long shaft ProKicker and it's about perfect. A XL shaft would be too long. Getting up on plane, it barely touches the water when tilted fully up.

Thanks for the reply! My Impact transom measures 20" where the kicker will be mounted. I was just worried that in rough water on lake Erie the long shaft wouldn't stay in the water. Thoughts?

Thanks!!

I trailered my boat out there for a week around Mother's Day this year. Verado popped a code and shut down out by the Toledo Water intake. Had 2-3 foot waves and my trolling motor was coming out of the water trying to get back in to Meinke Marina's ramp. Fired up the kicker and never came out of the water. In fact we caught a couple white bass trolling in.

I only needed a 20" shaft but I bought a 25" shaft merc pro=kicker because I figured The new kicker would last longer than I'll have this boat. I wanted to be able to use it on my next boat if deeper transom. The extra length makes no difference at trolling speeds or at WOT (8mph) for that matter. It tilts enough so its no where near the water when running. I fish lake michigan in up to 3-4 footers after that its no fun anyway.

I ended up buying a 25" ProKicker and couldn't be happier.
When it is tilted up and I'm running with the big motor it isn't anywhere near the water.
Even in lake Erie chop the prop stays well into the water.

Thanks for the input guys!!

Hi, The Impact is all that I expected, handled the 3' waves on lake Erie just fine. We've never been in any bigger waves yet. The on board fuel tank does have a second fuel pickup if you decide to install a kicker. Just pull up the center floor section at access it. I'm satisfied with the Impact.
