This is my first post to the forums. Be gentle but firm. I can handle it. 8)
I bought a 14' 1977 Collins Craft (made in Pace City, FL) this year, powered by an 18HP 4 stroke 2006 Nissan NSF18B2 (EF1 I believe, short shaft, electric start, alternator), serial number 027555Xe. This is a tiller-steered motor.
I'd like to know if anyone has converted a Nissan 18HP, or any in this family to stick steering. The small size of this boat doesn't like my big butt so close to the stern when fishing solo, and with someone else in the boat, in the front seat, its hard to see around them. (We fish some very stumpy areas and outboard+stump=fat grumpy fisherman.)
I was given a seized-up Ezy-Glide II 12' stick steering system. The cable is bad, but the rest is good. Mounting in the boat is no problem, but converting the motor to accept remote controls is. Any help is appreciated.
