It has fire to one plug but looks weak, The plugs are probably not the right ones(autolites) the correct plugs which are ? The coil, points, condenser are very dirty with some blackish crap all over everything so I need to clean all this stuff and I should use ? , After I get everything cleaned & put back in place I will set the point gap at ? there is a compression release thing on the port cylinder head that hisses when I turn the motor over ? the carb looks simple and I will clean it the throttle is free and the primers are as well. the spark plug wires are toast & I will replace them. If one spark plug fires does this mean the coil & condenser have a chance at being good & it might be the plug wire or solder connections etc? it seems to have good compression but I have not put a gauge on it yet but will do so, still in the inspecting stage at this point in the game and need to figure out the compression release thingy. Pls offer any advise as I am a simpleton and you will in no way offend me by pointing out all the basic stuff I have most likely overlooked.

Nice Speeditwin!
Clean and gap points at .020. Being an opposed twin, if you have spark on one side, you should have spark on the other, if all is good.

The compression release should only allow air out for starting purposes. 30 cubic inches roped over at one time is not for the faint of heart. Particularly on a motor with no neutral!

Yep its a 6011 speedtwin, Its not mine but the owner wants to put it in a antique aircraft museum in Palmer Alaska. He is going to fly a 1929 open cockpit bi-plane from Kodiak Island to Palmer Alaska & this motor will sit in the front seat. He told me if I can get it running he will take me up for a ride in the plane before loading in the Rude. He also says the lady he got the motor from has 2 more of these in her shed/ cabin over on the Alaska peninsula & he would ask her If I could have one for trying to get this one at least looking better to display. He dosn't care if it runs or not, But I just want to hear it run & maybe make a short video for him. Thats good news to hear about the spark/coil I was hoping that was the case. I have a condenser tester so I can check that. I hope it will do better once I get things cleaned soldered etc. Also good to hear about the compression release. It does seem to have a butt load of compression. does it have real water cooling? or just some kind of exhaust cooling?
