The number you provided does not match anything in my book which begins with 1956 models. I also believe it is a 1958 model but in the interest of accuracy we need to find a model number. Johnsons of that era should have an alpha-numeric sequence like RDS-19. Look on the side of the powerhead for a quarter-sized aluminum disk recessed into a shallow well. It should have both model and serial number stamped into it. Good luck with your project!

mine- 1947

coils on the 47 were all together different from the coils we are talking about. The older coils like that are practically bullet proof, but not the 50's coils.
