I am trying to find a gas cap amd other parts and a replacement impeller I may purchase for this beautiful motor. Has one slight dent in can, and the rest is just faded paint. The prob. is that parts are basically non-existant, but out there some where......If you can help me find parts for my beauty, I would be forever grateful.........

Try Ebay. Look in the outboard engine parts & components section. I find lots of outboard parts there from many makes years and models at reasonable prices.

The impeller is available - sort of. Use one from a 1970s 4hp Johnrude with the weedless lower unit. The Sierra part number is 18-3001, and the OEM part number is 277181.

Here comes the "sort of". You'll need to trim the impeller with a belt sander. The Original '52 Fleetwin impeller has a narrower profile than the later impeller, so you need to sand it down until it matches the one you took out. Take equal amounts off of both sides of the impeller until you get the proper height. Don't heat it up too much, either, as you can loosen up the metal hub from the rubber part. Work slowly and carefully and it'll work fine.

Your motor uses the "universal" OMC ignition, so all the parts under the flywheel are readily available. Might have to improvise on the carb, though, unless you get lucky at a long established dealer with some old stock.

Good luck!

- Scott
