1957 18 hp evinrude carb pics needed

I just obtained a 1957 Evinrude 18 hp motor. The carb just doesn't look right to me. The spring is buggered up, and looks loose. I am not sure if it is connected correctly. If you have pics of this carb, please post them so i can see how it supposed to be. Thanks

It looks like that is not the correct spring, attached at the proper points, just the wrong spring. The correct spring is available, # 303316. If it is working properly, go ahead and run it.

imal go out in the garage and look at mine but it looks ok to me....

yep looks the same ... is the spring loose with the choke pushed in ? its sposed to be....

What had me wondering was that there is a hole is the metal rod above the spring that looks like something should attach to it.

Also, why is there a threaded hole to the bottom rear of the spring? What would attach to the carb there?

Is that a solenoid for an electric choke? I think the extra holes are what confused me.
