Ok sorry for rambling... but I may have discovered something

can someone tell me if my symptoms coincide with both needles being way too far out?

Would the motor run and idle if the needles were allowing so much fuel?

In making sure I never over tighten my needles... I don’t think they were ever seated at all. I think my high speed was like 10!tirms out! The low speed also was faaar too out. I’m gunna reassemble the carb and see if I fixed it.

Let me know what you guys think. It certainly would explain why the motor would not cut off with me thinking the needles were closed

also pump diaphragm was dented but not broken or ruptured

Everything’s back together. I’m gunna throw some new plugs on her , since there was some excess residue I’m assuming from running so rich, and hopefully get her in the barrel tomorrow after work... big storm coming to Nj so tomorrow my last chance for a while

We have success! I put new plugs in her, had the carb needles set and put the fuel pump back together. Totally different motor! Will report back after the boat test but that might be a while. Nasty snow storm coming to nj . Thanks for all your help!
