Re: 1958 Arkansas Traveler 14' glass runabout

They look like any other fiberglass runabout of that era minus the ugly batboat fins if I'm not mistaken. Seen plenty from around 1960 and they're pretty average looking. Closed bow, rated for about 40Hp, bench seating for four. Probably has a 15" shortshaft transom. As with any other boat of that age, beware of rotton transom, floor, and stringers. I have a similar Duo that I turned into a sandbox for my kids. My other option was to turn it into a Hot Tub. If it don't work out, post it and I might take it off your hands. I have a few motors needing a boat to hang on. That and I had to sell all mine cuz of the divorce. Had a sailboat I lived on during the ordeal. I miss that boat! The others too. Right now I don't own a boat. But my 11 year old son does and he's too young to captain it (as if! He's been driving boats since he was able to grab the wheel. In my lap of course). It was one of mine and I always intended to give it to my first born. Sold it to him for a dollar to satisfy the court. The ex was pissed. Tuffschidt!

Live in Beaver Dam and work in Oshkosh. The pic was shot in Madison on the Yahara between the old and new beltline bridges. I get there a few times each month...relatives. Hopefully one of those aren't too far from you. Sure you don't want it?

The son's boat is a 1960(?) MercerCraft. Never seen another one like it. Has a 25 Sea King with a 4-blade bronze pulling prop or a 3-blade bronze speed prop. Bought it from a blacksmith back in the 80s. He bought a classic ChrisCraft cuz this one wouldn't run. Got it home, noticed the fuel line was attached backwards. I put a lot of nautical miles on that little bugger. :)

WillyB,

That's a good-looking little waterbug.

And I haven't a clue as to how you posted a pic like that either. It's great.

Re: 1958 Arkansas Traveler 14' glass runabout

Just got back from the ex-inlaws. They live a few blocks from Greenie. Had to pick up Grandma's dresser for my stepdaughter. Used to drive thru Marshall going to work at Cambridge from here. Went to Little Amerricka several years ago. That's barely a half hour away. Drop me an email and we can hook up. What's your favorite beverage? I'm laid off for a couple of weeks so my schedule is pretty much open. Thanks!

captwillieboatwright@yahoo.com

It’s easy. You display the pic on your computer then scratch away the edges with your fingernail.
:D

Sorry Barlow. Computer caught a bad virus. Can't get into Yahoo or ebay. Computer is working well otherwise, but kinda slow. I'm going to have to dump my memory and relaod from scratch today. But first I'll run to the library. I can check my email there. Meantime I shovelled out the trailer.
