Let me start this by saying this will be my first boat restore. I built skiffs back in high school but have never messed around much with fiberglass. I do restore cars as a hobby so the mechanical are not a problem...
Here is my new project, my prides rock skiff I built in high school and our 1956 Willys wagon that is also being restored.....
This is what i was told was a 1958 Herters Mark V runabout. I have no real numbers on the hull and have found no info online! Anywho I picked it up as a cheap project you know something to run on the river and local lakes. Not looking for a correct resto job just something functional and decent looking. Will also try to incorporate older car parts and or boat parts onto this boat to give it chaictor. The transom is supposedly rated to 40 hp?? I am planning on running a 25hp.
The old owner took off the windshield and bow light which kinda pissed me off cause i know these are gonna be tough to find.
Anyways here are a bunch of pictures that might help some of you help me. My biggest concern now is laying out the floor. Do i use foam in between? marine plywood or pressure treated? side ribbing. supports or are the aluminum supports sufficient?
Again I am new to this and i believe i have the abilities to redo this boat just need some guidance.
Alright onto the pics
I know the colors are kinda flashy but I kinda like the look
