1958 Johnson 35 hp Seahorse

Barn find. Head was badly discolored. Pulled the head and found a fingernail size divit in the lower sleeve. Fair to say that the head is toast?

Yep. If it's deeper then the largest oversize piston bore, then you can't bore it out and get rid of the divit.
I wonder what caused it? Something got loose in there....

it's right on the bottom of the sleeve. looks like the piston took a divit (similiar to a golfers divit). ? piston got to hot?
