The power head on my 1958 5.5hp Johnson has froze up, cylinder damage. Can I replace it with a power head from a 1958 10hp Johnson or will the lower unit not support it?

Thanks

My guess is not even close.Just based on the cubic inches 8.84 to 16.60.Even the shift linkage is different.0

No, the powerheads will not interchange. You'd need a powerhead from a 1956 to 1958 5.5 hp. A 1954 or 1955 powerhead may work with some modifications. A 1959 or later uses a different cylinder head and your cowling will no longer fit...
- Scott
