I'm replacing the bow and stern wood on the boat, after staining, is using lacquer over kill? Should I use polyurethane? I've been told to do either.

Agree, I would use ephiphanes or spar varnish... You will want it to have UV resistance otherwise it will crack and deteriorate in short order unless you will keep it trailered and in a garage all the time.

Cute little runabout.
As a note, there is no place for lacquer on a boat.

What are you using for ‘wood’?

yep, that’s a chunk of work to have her in the water this weekend.

The transom almost looks salvageable, the foredeck,... probably not if you want to keep it bright. Is the ply delaminating?

Everyone has their favorite varnish for different reasons.

Not painting the hull, only replacing the bow and stern tops. I'm using 1/4" marine plywood I got from local plywood store, the interior is near flawless. The outside pieces I'm changing are honestly the only thing that's weathered. The rest of it is just filthy and needs a good cleaning. A week is clearly pushing it but I like to set a goal haha

Did some test fitting. Turned out well. Waiting for the stain to come in. Now to the front.
