The bottom of my boat is even with the top of the ext. section on my 35 long. I know that this will create a lot of drag, but will it cause any other problems.I don't know if I want to go to the cost of converting to short. What do you guys think? Need suggestions! If do convert, does any one know if iboats carries parts this old?

Hello
There is no great cost in going from long to short. You are removing parts, not just adding.
The parts you need to replace are the driveshaft, the shift rod and possibly you have to get 2 shorter pieces of water tubing,oh yes ,a bolt. The parts you remove are the extension piece, the long shift rod,the water tube extensions, the long driveshaft, six short bolts and a long one.
You will have less trouble with shallow ramps and shallow rocks etc.A chewed up prop is not exactly cheap to replace.
You can probably get some money for the extension pieces you are removing if you sell them on e-bay.
I just converted one from short to long,so I have the spare parts right here and so do plenty other people.
Good luck.

It might be easier to raise the transom up 5 inches.
My opinion is spending virtually any money on a 1959 engine is too much money. It does seem to me that there are costs involved, like a shorter shaft etc...
But that's only my opinion.
