Any idea how I would hook one up, do you know that the 59 do not have coils. How would it be hooked up. ThanksYes, Tachs were used on Magneto Ignitions for Decades
I will check it tomorrow. ThanksThere is a coil inside the magneto !!
i have owned this motor for 10 years have not noticed that much gas used… will what this year. Still would like to hook up the tach. Hope someone can help. ThanksA smooth running / powerful motor.-----But the reputation of an inefficient user of fuel.-----I can identify one by the smell off the exhaust !!
Thank you for looking around. If you see any other info please let me know.I have searching the Various sites with Documents on old Motors but haven't come up with anything. I would think one of the M terminals on the Ignition Switch, would be where a tach would be hooked up, but I am not going to say to do that just yet.
In my 1977 OMC Accessory Book, it shows two Tachs for Magneto Outboards, also useable on the 4 Stroke I/O's of the day.
Part # 172077 and #172926. So maybe an Automotive tach might work.
