Just inherited it. I need to know the Gas/oil ratio. also stupid thing runs fine until you idle it down, then it starts spitting and popping like an old John Deere. I was told engine was completely rebuilt 3 years ago. I opend the case and it lookd very clean. It has electric start and a push button choke, new plugs and wires. I was told gas:eek:il 50:1 but cover states 24:1.

NOT 50:1. I have a '58. I use the 24:1 tc-w3 not the sae-30 recomended on the cover. I have the same problem with the low idle. Make sure you can run at WOT good then adjust the slow idle. You have to do fast first. If that doesn't help you may need to clean/rebuild the carb.

Set the low speed idle jet just a little richer. Tune the engine at WOT (high speed) set the high speed jet to the best run then 1/8 turn rich. Then set the low speed at idle in gear for best idle then 1/8 turn rich and it should be fine. And yes 24:1 tcw3 oil.

If rwise's recommendations don't help, you're due for a carb clean/rebuild. Also link/sync per manual.
