After much searching thru this wonderful forum, I can't find a thread to my particular problem. Without writing a book ...... About 9 years ago I bought a 1960 Johnson 40hp model rds-22 that had been very well maintained. In running it over the summer, it had started to develope a miss, in taking it to the only local boat repair I was shown after he had pulled the flywheel that the rotating plate that the points and coil are mounted on had a very worn out bushing allowing it to change point gap. My brother-in-law on the east coast came up with a new plate, which I have transfered the coils over to and related wire clamps. I have new points and condenser ready to mount on, but can't seem to find the any info or pictures in the clymer engine manual I have on what the two black wires and two smaller green wires attach to. The boat repair person has since gone out of business. Also there is a brass curved arm that is attached to the plate that attaches somehow to the motor and a related linkage I believe that ties to the black rubber roller that rolls against another curved brass piece. Is there anyone with a good photo that would show me how this plate hooks up to its various connections or should I just spring for the better/more expense manual. Thanks, in advance
