let me just say that i now know the reason why people do not like mercurys:eek:

so far ive striped a head of a screw due to corrosion. broke 5 bolts(corrosion) and the 6th one came out bent. hahaha

so if you do not already know my motor mounts have gone bad and i need to replace them.

my progress so far is removed the lower unit, powerhead and lower cowling. and removed both of the top motor mounts so far.

problems. the motor mounts are stuck in the cover. any ideas on prying them out?

same for the bottom mounts. they are stuck in there pretty good.

question? how do i remove the exhaust housing? im stuck with the reverse lever push rod.

thanks =) btw i still love the mercury =):D

umm upon further reading and observing i will have to remove the reverse lock lever pin to take out the reverse lock lever and reverse lock lever push rod.

any ideas on prying rubber mounts out their sockets? they are corroded and stuck in there pretty badly.

Sounds like your having fun. On a spare 67 Merc 500 powerhead that I have, I busted 5 bolts trying to remove the exhaust manifold cover. Then I spent a beautiful afternoon drilling those suckers out.
