No I haven't, but you can try bolting up. The throttle linkages should be pretty much the same. If it bolts up, then it should work. I believe the bolt pattern is the same distance on the studs. You'll just need to wire up a lead to the choke solenoid.

see i have all my wiring already inside the harness i have now for a generator , elec choke, starter, all the good stuff .. since the high speed is in teh same place on these 2 carbs wouldnt the wholes for the needles be the same size? well anyways i am going to try it out after i do a carb kit on one of them .. or maybe just change the bowls on them so i have the bowl with teh elctric choke on it and just use the variable high speed on my carb i have now.. who knows i can try anything and just pray she works out in the end

As I tried to tell you. the bowls are different.

1. The adjustable needle is threaded differently than the fixed jet, and has a packing nut. There is a seat in the fixed jet bowls for the orifice plug.

2. The electric choke has different linkages than the hot water choke, so you cannot connect a solenoid to the 40hp choke shaft.

3. The metal tube apeared in 1964 when the entire automatic choke was redesigned. The new choke was heated by hot air drawn from a "stove" in the exhaust cover. The hot water choke and hot air choke are two totally different animals.

Get used to it, you can swap the entire carburetor (maybe), but not pieces of it.

EDIT: The hot water choke has a vacuum diaphragm ("unloader") that pulls the choke partly open as soon as the engine starts, to help prevent the over-choke and flooding that would occur during warm-up.

EDIT EDIT: There is no repair kit for the choke alone.

Yep, that was my take on it too. The whole carb will need to be changed out.

You should be able to. The manual choke lever should still work the same.
