Hi guys! This is my second boat. The first one I re-did has gotten me hooked and as soon as I finished converting my 1976 Ouachita into a inshore boat I started looking for another boat that would take the choppy waters of Lake Ponchatrain. I found one, well I have been driving by this boat for a couple of years but I finally stopped and asked if it was for sale. It was and I offered him 100 bucks. We agreed on 150 and on Sunday June 8th my kids brought our new project home. BTW here's a tip when buying stuff....bring exact change the boat ended up costing 160 but I did get a new 1 7/8" ball so it wasn't so bad. Anyway, I have determined that my new toy is a 1963 Starcraft Fiesta although it is hard to tell because it looked more like a greenhouse for growing poison Ivy. LOL I think this boat has a lot of potential. My plan is to really do this right. My kids and I are going to take our time and I'll be needing a lot of help. We got to work right away with cleaning her up and we are going to try and work on it a little everyday. I'll keep you guys posted. Feel free to offer any advice. I am trying to determine if I want to remove the top from the hull for rebuilding the floor and transom and repainting. If I do this I guess I'll need to flip it over. Should I do it? If not how do I paint the bottom? Well thats all for now. Take a look at day one! Let me know what you think!

Re: 1963 Starcraft Fiesta

it's probably going to be easier to do the deck with it separated. or you can put the boat on jacks, after doing the interior deck, and work upside down,

Getting Boat Off Trailer

you don't need stands.

1/you can lower the tongue to the ground. i would get some 6x6 or old railroad crossties cut the +- 12 inches, now block up the transom. 2/

Raise the tongue of the trailer the back of trailer will drop away from trailer. this is the tricky part. between the cross braces of the trailer block the keel lower trailer, boat will be suspended on the blocks.

3/ pull forward, lift bow again, and reblock i a different place. repeat until trailer is out from under the boat.

4/ to reload, just reverse the procedure.

if you were just working on the bunks, or painting the bottom. you could just do the first 2 steps.

looks like a lot of work - but a great classic boat. looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
