1966 40hp electric shift

posted this in the wrong forum, some days it doesn't pay to sit down at the keyboard. having trouble locating new electric shift cables for a 1966 40hp RLK. the forward and reverse ones. any suggestions?

Do you mean the cable that leads down into the lower unit? That could be a tough one. Part number 380956, replaced by 383595, it is listed as unavailable. Some Evinrude dealers have access to a database that tells them what other dealers have in stock.

Back in the day I had that same motor, bought brand new. Then I was young and foolish with time on my hands so i used the boat 4 times a week on average. After replacing the cable for the third time I sold the motor. That was the most unreliable motor I have owned in 50 years of boat ownership.
