1966 johnson 6hp condensers

I've bought around 3 sets of condensors and they work on the engine twice and then they give up and the plug wire its connected to stops giving spark. Anyone know why?

The factory condenser are very reliable.------What other trouble shooting was done ?----Did you install new coils , yes or no ?-----New wires threaded into the coils , yes or no ?

I've installed new wires and same problem, both coils and brand new oem and same with the igniton wires

unless you can measure capacitors properly it is hard to tell when and how bad they fail.... barring an obvious short circuit giving you a constant low resistance value it hard to say how bad things are.

they realy need to be tested with high voltages to detect leakage between the 2 internal foils.

make certain coil wires to the points are kept away from the crankshaft rotation. (look for rub marks/chaffing)

what condenser # did you buy.... ?
