Re: 1967 14ft. Starcraft Sea Scamp Restoration
No, I don't think so, maybe different packaging though. I used this.. Looked everywhere for a quart of self etching primer...Not, Didn't want to but was just gonna get some cans of SE primer but then I saw this and fell for it...I knew I should of just got the primer but , I didn't...

I have read your threads on painting) Funny I have known about self etching primer for awhile now, Not necessarily for painting aluminum but, I knew about it...I went to my local Sherwin Williams and asked if they had it in quarts.. He never heard of it.. Looked at my like I was crazy, same for ZC...I said alright NM.
Anyway now I've already sanded boat with 100g. Roughed it up , hit it with that primer pictured. Was not impressed off the bat. I had the choice take it off now or just say F.I. I want to take the boat out on the water so bad, so I said F.I. I threw on couple coats of Enamel with hardener. Thinned the first coat with acetone and rolled didn't come out to good, and it started raining . ( I'm working under carport) sanded with fine paper and wiped with mineral spirits and the final coat I decided not to thin and to just paint with brush. This coat looks much better, dried quick and looks pretty good. Not perfect by any means but good enough for this year...So now I'm just waiting on her to cure...
So I did it the way I did it not to happy about it but we will see how she holds up.. I'll let ya all know and see...So that anyone may learn from this project.. I know the next project will be closer to winter and approached much better...But we'll have to see what new boat I want...Already want bigger....
