Finally got the deck done (mostly) and installed this weekend. Ended up painting it. Used Glidden Polyurethane porch and floor paint with a pouch of the Behr anti skid in it. Took a gallon to do 3 coats top and bottom. Still have to finish the door for the rod locker I added, then to the seat boxes and bench.

I was kinda sceptical about the anti-skid. Looked like powder when I opened the bag. But the stuff is great, almost the texture of skid tape and you can't hardly feel it with bare feet. I'll see how it wears. Worst case is the floor is already sealed and I put vinyl over the top. The wife was thinking I was getting to much blue, and we couldn't find seats to really match. She suggested gray and white/gray seats. I hate it when she's right, I like the gray.

New total on cost:
Boat, trailer and motor-$250
Napa, various stuff to get motor running-$75
Paint and supplies-$220

Running total= $545

Water pump -$26
More paint supplies, 5200, sandpaper and a fortune in laquer thinner-$150

Total so far= $721

Another even hundred spent today to get stuff to make the seat boxes and rod locker. Adds up quick! I'm thinking I can get done for $300.00 more baring any big issues with the motor that I didn't catch. That will include the material to cover the bench, front folding seats, and new tires for the trailer. If so that'll come with to about $850 for the rebuild + the price paid for boat, trailer, and motor.

Total so far= $821

Finally got the seat boxes, rod locker and rear seat completed today. I think that I've taken atvantage of all possible storage space now. Going to have to put a deep cycle up under the bow to compensate for the weight of the bench seat. Maybe added 40lbs to the back. I can start putting all the stuff back on the boat now and get ready for the motor. Still need to get some front folding seats and swivel plates. I can add another $75.00 to the bill for foam (that stuff is expensive) piano hinges, and vinyl.

Total so far = $896

For some reason it's not letting me update the title of my post. Usually I go to the 1st post and add the update date. Now it's only changing the 1st post and not the main title. Am I doing something wrong here?

We are getting closer!!!!! Started putting the 52 million machine screws in tonight. Now I remember why it took a whole day to take the stuff off.

Nearing the end!!!!!!! Cut the last peice of plywood for the outer transom bracket, paint and install that and install the steering cable and I'm ready to mount the motor. Hopefully mount it on Saturday so I can get started on installing the water pump. No pics tonight it got to dark.

Great looking Crestliner LH it seems like you've got a pretty good handle on restoring tinnies...how many times have you done this before?:D

That aft bench is a work of perfect form and function the way it flips for access.

Re: 1967 Crestliner rebuild Update 08/16/09

Thanks Guys,

Everything is finally on. It's about time (I'm quoting my wife). I am sick of polishing aluminum and chrome! The window may wait until next spring. Don't really need it but it adds alot to the boat. The old one just fell to peices when I took it off, rotten plexiglass. Have to also get 2 swivel seats but at least I can test it without those, have some throw preservers to sit on. Other than that all I have left to do on the boat is mount the motor and install a new water pump. Hopefully get to that on Saturday.

Huron,
This is the first tinnie I ever tackled for a full restore. Did a trihull a few years back. All those Starcraft guys had me jealous and searching for one. Not a Starcraft but it's pretty darn close in design and it was cheap.

LH I think it looks great and I personally would be happy to see her at Tinstock . I think she would fit in just fine with all the old Starcrafts :D.
