witenite: I'm in Payette

Camlee: Go ahead and steal the idea, I did. I actually found it somewhere on this forum. It does add some weight to the back but I think I can get a deep cycle up front and other gear to counter that pretty well.

I've got the brackets and all the moulding for the window. I tried to piece it back together to make a pattern without much luck. I was at the HD the other day and checking out the 1/8" plexi. I figured I would experiment on the bends while it was still in the store LOL. I'm pretty sure as soon as I can get a piece long enough that I can cold form the 1/8". Lexan is just way expensive. I cant afford that right now.

I think that we are finally ready for a splash test. Hopefully by Sunday if not sooner. Got the motor remounted yesterday, finished the wiring and she started right up and ran in the tub for about 15 minutes. That was after I figured out my battery was shot and had to steal the one from my truck to test it. Need to get 2 tires and a battery and I'm ready to put in the water. Still no windshield or front seats but I can't wait any longer.

Tommorow is the day! So exicited I probably won't be able to sleep...Then again I have had 4 beers now. I have to go out and look at stars in the spotting scope with my little girl, hopefully I can find them.

Had to borrow the seat from my liitle fishing boat for the time being, but it will do.

The splash test finally happened today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got her in the water fine, she started up great, and ran like crap. Fiddled with the adjustments, drained the fuel bowls and ran some tie wire in there incase of clog. Seems to have solved the problem after about 30 minutes of messing around she was up an running. Ran 6 gallons through it and she never faltered again. Guess I'll know tommorow when I go back fishing.

The old 60hp Johnson has a hole shot that will snap your neck, but it'll only get 30 mph gps. Tried trimming on every hole and #3 seemed to be the best.

Well after 2 runs in 2 days I can see that the project is not quite done. The rear bench, although it looks good, is not very functional. Anyone other than an adult that is ready for the hole shot may get thrown out the back. So kids have to sit on the floor while underway. I need to lower the bench or raise the back rest about 6"-8".

The lower unit began to leak oil from the prop shaft so new seals are in order there.

And I think I need to rebuild the fuel pump. Once you hit WOT it sometimes, not all, falls on it's face for a second. Then it recovers and doesn't do it again.

So there minor things that I'll get worked out.

Forgot to update the restore costs. $1150 ( boat and motor included) to get it on the water. Still need a few things but a boat always does doesn't it? So I didn't to bad on keeping the costs down. Everything else will wait until spring. Going into winter and need to save some money.
