Thank you to all the helped me with this motor.

I took it out for the first time today, other than one issue it was great! The idle screw doesn't have a spring on it and the knob that goes to it is missing. So when the motor is running the screw turns it's self in and shuts down the air/fuel mixture. I fixed it enough while I was on the lake to run the motor a good bit, about 2-3 gallons or 3 hours or so. I don't know how fast I was running, but with better weight placement in the boat I believe it will plane. I am guessing between 15-20 MPH is what I was getting. It felt like I was moving just as good as my buddies pontoon does, it will do about the same 20 MPH.

Again, thank you all and this great forum!

Your loose idle needle issue is probably because the packing is dried out and cracked up or the packing nut is too loose.Try tightening the packing nut first. If no improvement new packing washers are indicated..They're just little fibre washer and some times you can get them at Napa.I usually make my own from cork gasket material.Loose packing could also cause your rough idle.
