I have the nail style hinge pin, and I have removed the gimbal ring to replace the power tilt limit switch and will replace the bellows including the shift bellows but I need to remove the cable to replace the bellows and the cover which covers the shift cable from the transom plate to the bell housing.

1. Does anyone have a source for the cable cover?

2. Do I remove the cable from the shifter up near the steering wheel and pull the cable back? How do I reinstall it?

Bt Doctur: Thank you for that pdf! I do have a single limit switch which is on the top of the gimbal ring. I found a new old stock switch. Since the rubber must necessarily be old, we will see how long it lasts.

As far as the shift cable goes, from page 19 of 40 of your pdf, it looks like I already have the new style shift cable. (I.e., I have threads sticking forward not just threaded aft into the bell housing.) Is it correct that I already have the new style and a tap will not be needed?
