Hi folks; I just recently bought a 71 MFG Carefree with a '68 Evinrude 33 Ski Twin. As part of my way of doing things I copied down the 'model #' off the ID plate, 33853M. In my online searches for manuals/info/etc is 33853M and 33853R. I would like to know what the 'M' & 'R', stand for. From what I am seeing on the covers of manuals available thru ebay I'm thinking the M is for Electric start and the R is for Manual start. Am I correct on that?
I have learned on here that the Generator Kits don't have that good a reputation, so I think I will just get a solar trickle charger.
Also, would anyone have any info on the trim/tilt kits?
I launched the boat for the first time and was pleased that the 33 started without much issue, but it did seem like a length amount of time before it really smoothed out and idled well. I don't know how long it had been since it was last run. Low and mid range seemed good but I don't think it really achieved 'top end' and would 'deaden out' at full throttle. I'm going to assume it needs a good tune up and plan to have a pro go over it.
I'll work on jet engines all day, but I don't have the same level of confidence when it comes to piston pounders.
Thanks for all I've learned already and for anything shared on all this.
