Use her in the Winter!?!?!

Well...I was on the lake last November here in Michigan.

I guess I was under the impression that you don't get cold enough weather to freeze the lakes over down there:D(that's what keeps me from using the boat all year).

Hope you can get her splashed before it gets below 60:)

Sometimes they freeze Huron but its not common. Im a noob at boating, i have never been on the lake during winter. But if I do it it will give me an excuse to drink though (keep me warm) :p Im looking forward to fishing, skiing, floating, etc. I want try everything. Newbie Tendencies .

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

Had some time monday to work on the trailer.

MAH005203.jpg

I took the stop lights off and decided to close the open ends by welding for cosmetic reasons.

MAH005271.jpg

I took my Harbor Freight 110v stick welder and tried. SOme monster welds but it got the job done.

MAH0052712.jpg

WIll grind and paint later. I also took the keel rollers out. See warped they are.

MAH005279.jpg

The problem i had with the rolllers was that the shaft is an 1". You cant find that size anymore.

MAH005277.jpg

So i had to get some brackets and shafts, beside the Stoltz rollers wich are all now 1/2" or 5/8". They should arrive this week end. Removed also the fenders, will have to clean them, i dont think I will paint them.

The bunk rollers are also coming, see how messed up.

Man this trailer needed some serious attention.
For you guys that dont have a compressor or a strong one. I bought this harbor freight 1/2" ELECTRIC IMPACT. It worked beautiful on my rusted bolts. I dont know how long it will last but it got the job done.

OK, my goal is to get this done in one weekend, primer, paint and installation of rollers and finally flip my baby and nest her back. Wish me luck.

Re: 1968 Holiday Restoration w/pics

So, im gonna finish this trailer by this weeknd no matter what, the only thing that will be left will be the lights. I still dont know what style of ligts to get. All I want is to be able to have my boat on my trailer side up. So with that in mind I am posting a count down. Starting at 1 pm friday to 6 pm on Sunday (gotta watch the simpsons on sunday). Thats 53hrs.....here we go.

Good luck with the Weekend project. If you are close to me you are taking a rain break. It's not actually raining here yet but it is close. Hopefully it doesn't last long and you can get back on it. What part of Dallas are you in? You said close to Ray Hubbard. I am near Fire Wheel mall.
