I try to open my mercury 350 (35HP) lower unit and I'm stuck. I removed the LU from the engine (thanks it was not rusted). But and can't figure out how to remove the bearing carrier. My Solec manual doesn't fit with my LU. I removed the external nut and a small piece of metal called "key". I think I have to turn counter-clock (I don't have spacial tool so I try with a screw driver and hammer). But nothing seems to move. Any clue would be appreciate.

Are you talking about the cover nut? The ring shaped nut that is on the inside of the lower unit? Many people on this site have made their own. Try a search for cover nut tool. I know that some have used your method but seems really scary to me.

The cover nut and shim are removed. But it's the bearing carrier that I don't konow how to remove. Do I have to turn or do I need a puller? It looks like there are threads inside but images I found on Internet look like there's not.

Thank you anyway
