1969 115 Johnson - Points or Electronic

I have a 1969 Johnson 115 HP. Can anyone tell me if it has points or electronic ignition?<br />If points, what gap?<br />Thanks

im will ing to bet it has points if the gap isnt stamped on the stator plate try .016

I dunno about the points...I thinks it's electronic. I remember my buddy buying a new "Power Pack" for his '69 Johnson 115 hp once or twice during the 20 years he owned it. The symptoms were absolutely no spark. It might be something for you to consider. Good luck!

The 115 had breakerless electronic when new. Now some of these motors may have been converted to the 85 hp( which had points to trigger the power pack)and an automotive coil. Adrian

In 1969, Johnson experimented in an ignition system similiar to what is used today - although more primitive. The flywheel contains a Sensor assembly Part #382534 that sends a signal to the powerpack. Mine was broken when the reverse cutoff spring Part # 313743 bunched up. Does anyone know where I can find a 1969 115 Johnson for parts?
