Re: 1969 18' fiberform floor removal

EEEEHAW! ! ! The foam is out. Now the fun can begin. The boat is still on the trailer. I think I will set it down on a cradle before I strip the stringers out. It is a roller trailer and I worry a little that the hull may tweak or hump where the rollers sit. Thanks for all the help so far. I will take some pictures later today and let any other newbies see the tools I made out of scrap that helped with the foam stripping.

Oops,

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but do you recommend replacing his foam, or leave it gone? And if you replace it, what do you replace it with?

Good luck JH, I feel your pain. The folks here are wonderful, and full of knowledge. I'm having engine trouble, and I'm constantly recieving useful advice. Stick with it, and keep the goal in focus, and you'll have great pride when it's finished.

there is several threads on replacements for foam....in fact....im working on a totally different system.....some of the foam used in late modle boats is structural....like a bayliner.....that boat must be re foamed unless you streghten the hull.

i would never say to leave such a saftety feature out of a vessel on open forum .......but there aint none of that carp in my boat'''''''';)

this thread is the most comphencive discussion on foam on the forum.....read it all.....it takes a while.....but read bondo-s comments earlyer on.....he nails it !
