I Have A 9.5hp 1969 The Motor Has Set Up For 4 Years Cleaned Plugs;flushed Carb;new Tank Hose;new Gas And Oil;cranked On First Pull .ran Good In Tank; Ran 2 Hrs. In Tank. When Ran On Lake It Would Run About 1/2 Mile And Speed Would Slow To About 1/2 Throttle. Change Plugs,fuel Lines;fuel Pump;cleaned Carb.this Did Not Help I Can Stop Motor And Restart And It Will Run Good Again For 1/2 Mile Or Less. Bulb Stays Firm And Pumping It Does Not Help

9.5's are great motors but they have a common problem with exhaust leaks into the cowl. Eventually they get starved for good air supply. When your on the water try running it with the cover removed and see if that improves the situation. If it doesn't then you should do a spark check when it slows down to make sure you have spark at both plugs. Best of luck. Let us know. Rick.

Try to keep the engine running by lightly squeezing the primer bulb, that will help if the fuel pump is not working correctly.

The carburetors have cork floats that don't last long, especially with the alcohol in the gas, which dissolves the shellac coating.

Get a OEM carburetor kit # 382048 and replace the float; then you won't keep running out of fuel. [The aftermarket kits do not have the floats.]

99% of intermittant power loss (1/2 speed) is caused by running on one cylinder. Forget about the fuel and fix the ignition.
