I am looking for a point cam or a part number for it for a 1969 Chrysler 55HP model 5555. I am hoping it shares a part number with Mercury to enhance my search. I can't find one anywhere. My other question is on the 1990 force. I am trying to remove the power head, I have removed every visible bolt or nut and it won't budge. The lower unit is off and the exhaust housing moves with the engine. Is there a hidden bolt under the rubber mount beneath the reed valves? Any help with these two matters would be greatly appreciated, thanks for your time:)

The 1990 Force 50 is a miserable job to remove the powerhead. There are no hidden bolts, but the gasket is glued, and the powerhead just will not budge. If you pry on the match plate you will either break the match plate or the lower cowl. If you pry on the front motor mount you will break the front casting.

I just did one and it took me three days of cursing. Finally, I removed the lower motor mounts, shifted the midleg, and pryed from underneath. After MUCH fuss and bother, the gasket finally released.

You did remove the two 12 point bolts from under the lower cowl? They are located at the front of the midleg and pass through it, the match plate, and into the front of the block.

yes, those are out. my manual shows 6 down thru the lower cowl. i can only find 5. i suspect the 6th is under the exhaust cover but the manual didnt suggest removal. 2 under fuel pump, 2under the head and only 1 under the coil pack/cdi unit.

You have them all. I remember it striking me as different that they would use an odd number of bolts when there was no particular pattern to match.

Once you do get the block off, you will find bolts through the match plate into the block AND two of the exhaust downtube bolts also hold the match plate to the block----12 pointers again

Info shared on your cam need. I hope I d/n make it too confusing with reversed text order.

Re: Hello Nordin, Can you help with this 69, 55 HP point cam matter below?

Have in mind that the 35Hp only had magneto ign. The 45 and 55Hp had magneto, battery and magnapower ign.

The cam for battery and magnapower are the same but the cam for magneto is shaper because the magneticfield need a more sudden opening to collapse and then to produce a good spark.

SO. 35Hp magneto ign. partno. 93002. 45Hp magneto ign. partno. 93002. Battery and magnapower ign. partno. 268002-2. 55Hp magneto partno. 93002, battery and magnapower partno. 268002-2.

This is Chrysler OB partno. I do not know what Mercury put on. but usually they put F in the begining of the partno. Today, 09:26 AMwickware
