1969 Chrysler 7072 Woes

I was wondering if anyone on this forum knew where I could get the part number for the cd black box for my motor. I've just purchased one online and I beleive it is the wrong one, having a red white and black wire then a white/black, grey and black wire from the side.

Also I was reading here, that the MSD-5520 may be an adequate substitute. If the box I have is from a newer model can it be used on this motor?

I found a boat yard where the guy has a mountain of boat motor, I'm sure he has a Chrysler somewhere in there but he said he wanted a set of part numbers to look for which I dont have considering the part was missing from my boat when i bought it.

Gee-- That is a knotty one. The red wire is definitely power to the capacitors while the white is tachometer signal. Now, black is almost always ground but it COULD be in this case a power to the internal electronics. On the side, white/black is signal from the points while grey is to the positive on the coil. Black is a ground.

If you are willing to take a chance, attach the box with the black from the red, white, and black group to ground. If no spark, then try attaching black to the BLUE from the ignition switch. --no guarantees here and it is a crapshoot on your part. It may damage the CD unit.
